Not just VPNs, as corporate networks change at the time of the New Normal. A practical guide and the concrete case of the collaboration between IFIConsulting and HPE Aruba.
In times of Smart Working and widespread remote access, what kind of corporate networks is needed?
Is it enough to have a VPN to solve all the problems? Today companies, when it comes to access and connection to the network, the first thing they ask is certainly the respect of security. Which is undoubtedly an important aspect, even if the risk may be to neglect other important parameters, such as productivity and ease of access. Users who access remotely expect to have the same experience as those who have the office network available.
Not only VPN the HPE Aruba case
As Alessandro Ercoli Systems Engineering Manager of HPE Aruba recounts, “Surely the network infrastructures for the new way of working must provide something completely different than before. We have verified this during the Covid emergency, when we had to go to buffer certain situations with software applications, in particular using VPNs, rather than with the remote desktop. But that’s not all: to have a secure network, you need to have hardware devices that implement deeper security technologies. For example, in the employee’s home it could be useful to have a device capable of realizing these security logics, integrating with policy management platforms”. [Want to know what to do right away if the new normal is the explosion of remote access?
Aruba solutions fully respond to this need, as evidenced by a consulting company such as Ifi Consulting: “We have chosen to adopt HPE Aruba Smart Working solutions, precisely because they reverse the paradigm: rather than worrying about how to access the company network, they are solutions that transfer the office to the worker’s home, bringing with them all the reliability and guarantees that can be required”, highlights Francesco Russo, Director of Digital innovation at IFIConsulting. Since home networks tend to be more vulnerable than corporate ones, in this era of new normal it is therefore necessary to bring hardware components to the employee’s home, so as to adopt deeper security rules, capable of stopping the increasingly deadly attacks of cybercrime:
“Thanks to the Aruba remote infrastructure, integrated with the Policy management implemented by a software such as Clearpass, it is possible to automatically deploy security configurations user by user, device by device, already in the employee’s home, exactly as if you were in the office”, highlights Ercoli.
